Trouser Girl

In this opera for children, Lukey’s girlfriend Chris happens to be the superhero Raybeam who can blow stuff up with her eyes. This was cool at first but since she’s always out saving the world from destruction, he almost never gets to see her. To make things worse, her BFF Danny (aka the super-awesome Transformo who can turn into anything) is always by her side. How can a super-ordinary guy like Lukey not get jealous?

When Chris cancels their six-month anniversary dinner at the last minute, Lukey hatches a bold plan. After a quick rummage through his mother’s laundry basket, the superhero Trouser Girl is born and, in his disguise, he joins Raybeam and Transformo on their latest adventure to find out what it is exactly that they get up to.

This vibrant adventure is themed around trouser roles in classic operas (male characters that are meant to be sung by women) while also focusing on gender. The music includes repurposed trouser role pieces from famous operas such as Chacon a son gout from Johan Strauss II’s Die Fledermaus, Non son pui cosa son from Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and Couplets Cupidon from Offenbach’s Orphée aux Enfers.
